As a family-run winery, Black Cottage Wines has sustainability ingrained in its very essence. To fulfill this responsibility, they actively participate in the Sustainable Winegrowers New Zealand program. In 2020 alone, they made significant strides towards boosting biodiversity by planting over 500 native plants along the banks of the Ōpaoa River. Through their ongoing riparian planting program, they aim to establish thousands more native plants, creating a flourishing habitat. In their commitment to reducing carbon emissions, they have adopted environmentally friendly lightweight bottles. Additionally, from the 2020 vintage onwards, the majority of their wines are vegan-friendly, aligning with their dedication to ethical practices.
