Jean-Baptiste epitomises the essence of artisanal craftsmanship. His singular goal is to craft the epitome of "terroir" wine in Beaujolais—a wine that truly reflects its origins in the vineyard.

Here, every grape is hand-harvested, with JB eschewing additives, opting for minimal fining, and employing as little sulfur as possible in the winemaking process. As the eighth generation of the Bechvillier family to steward the vines of Mont Joly, JB holds a unique position, having become the first to own the vineyard since 1873.

He fulfilled his childhood aspiration by acquiring the land before his thirtieth year, turning his lifelong dream into reality.

SINCE 1779: A LEGACY OF EXCELLENCE

Domaine De Mont Joly traces its roots back to 1779 when it served as a bustling coaching inn—a testament to its enduring legacy. Remnants of the 1779 vintage linger, echoing the rich history woven into every bottle.

AN IDYLLIC GEOGRAPHICAL SETTING

Nestled at the convergence of Beaujolais' oldest granites and limestone marls, the estate enjoys an enviable position. Perched 350 meters above sea level with a northeast exposure, the vineyards bask in optimal conditions, nurturing grapes of unparalleled quality.

EXPERTISE HONED THROUGH GENERATIONS

JBB stands as the torchbearer of a venerable tradition, the third generation to steward Domaine Du Mont Joly. Drawing upon the collective wisdom of his predecessors—parents and grandparents alike—JBB endeavors to elevate the wines to new heights.

JEAN-BAPTISTE BACHEVILLIER: A MAN DRIVEN BY PASSION

Infused with a lifelong ardor for vines and wine, Jean-Baptiste's insatiable thirst for exploration propels him forward, culminating in the realization of his ultimate aspiration: the acquisition of Domaine Du Mont Joly.
