Introducing Place of Changing Winds, a prestigious winery nestled in the heart of central Victoria, Australia. With a name steeped in indigenous history, this vineyard, originally known as Warekilla or "Place of Changing Winds" by the Wurundjeri people, continues to honor its roots while producing exceptional wines.
At Place of Changing Winds, they meticulously craft two distinct wine collections: the Estate Pinot Noir and Chardonnay, sourced from their own vineyards, and the Syrah and Marsanne, sourced from select grower vineyards.
Their Estate wines, exclusively sourced from the Place of Changing Winds property, showcase the unique terroir of the region. Situated at an altitude of 500 meters, surrounded by native flora and vast forests, their vineyard benefits from a cool climate, abundant rainfall, and significant diurnal temperature variations. Notably, their vineyard boasts an extraordinary high density, with nearly 45,000 vines meticulously planted across 3.1 hectares. This density, ranging from 12,000 to 33,000 vines per hectare, contributes to the complexity and intensity of their wines.
For over a decade, Place of Changing Winds has perfected their agronomic practices, embracing sustainable viticulture without the use of synthetic chemicals. With their cellar conveniently located next to the vines, the grapes are swiftly transferred to the fermenters, preserving their freshness and purity. Every aspect of production, from vineyard management to bottling, is carefully overseen on-site, reflecting their unwavering commitment to quality and authenticity.
In addition to their Estate series, Place of Changing Winds offers Syrah and Marsanne sourced from two esteemed grower vineyards. Collaborating closely with their growers, they ensure organic vineyard management and meticulously select picking dates to produce wines of exceptional finesse and character.
Place of Changing Winds invites you to experience the essence of their land and the passion behind their wines. With each bottle, you embark on a journey of exploration, where tradition meets innovation and the winds of change shape extraordinary flavours.
