Description

Introducing Place of Changing Winds Harcourt Marsanne Rousanne, a testament to the exquisite craftsmanship and dedication of Place of Changing Winds. Hailing from the same esteemed vineyard as their acclaimed Harcourt Syrah, this wine is a true reflection of the passion and expertise that goes into every bottle.

Carefully selected grapes, ripened to perfection, are treated with the utmost care from harvest to bottle. Following a gentle pressing, the juice is sent straight to barrel, including both 500- and 228-liter casks, alongside a unique 220-liter glass Wineglobe for fermentation and aging. This meticulous process ensures that every drop is infused with the purest expression of the vineyard's terroir.

At Place of Changing Winds, they embrace the natural rhythms of winemaking, allowing malolactic fermentation to occur spontaneously, enhancing the wine's depth and complexity. After a patient maturation period of 12 months in barrel and Wineglobe, the wine is transferred to tanks for an additional eight months of refinement before being bottled in November 2023.

While Place of Changing Winds Harcourt Marsanne Rousanne certainly has the potential to age gracefully, developing honeyed nuances over time, its allure is undeniable even in its youth. Balancing power and richness with a vibrant energy, this vintage showcases the unique characteristics of Harcourt's soils, the cooler climate of the year, and the inclusion of Roussanne in the blend.

Indulge in the sensory experience of Place of Changing Winds Harcourt Marsanne Rousanne, where each sip transports you to the heart of the vineyard, capturing the essence of Place of Changing Winds's legacy and the artistry of winemaking.

“We’re onto something special here. The wines are wonderful, complex and considered, mostly made with chardonnay and pinot noir but also with (Heathcote) shiraz. And while they are made in such limited quantity that finding them is difficult, the hunt is worth it, the crusade.” Campbell Mattinson, Halliday Wine Companion Top 100 Wineries

Review

This is such a wonderful wine its success is in its concentration of flavour and texture (fleshy and chalky at the same time), its vivid sense of hallmarks of the variety (bitter lemon, preserved lemon, herbal detail, minerality) And a general sense of energy. It sits at medium weight. Its stains the palette gently, its perfume is inviting and ultra-pleasing, that it drinks with such ease belies its complexity. Wickedly enjoyable.
