Deeply coloured, concentrated, and distinctive, St. Estephe is the go-to for great, age-worthy and reliable Bordeaux reds. Separated from Pauillac merely by a stream, St. Estephe is the farthest northwest of the highest-classed villages of the Haut Medoc and is therefore subject to the most intense maritime influence of the Atlantic. This is the third wine from the wonderful and long-lived Château Calon Segur. It is 65% Cabernet Sauvignon, 20% Merlot, and 15% Cabernet Franc, and considering it comes from the typically tannic home of Calon Segur, it is actually one of the sweeter, more forward.
