Elegance meets abundance in this exquisite wine. It unveils a symphony of white fruit aromas, from zesty lemon and white peach to juicy pear and lively grapefruit, all graced by subtle hints of pineapple and delicate spring blooms. As you savor it, the experience deepens with nuances of nuts, marzipan, and sweet spice that beautifully complement the wine's vibrant flavor profile, underscored by a refined minerality. The overall impression is one of sensuality and silkiness, a harmonious and perfectly balanced blend of flavors that lingers into a long, refined finish.
The Cuvée Perrier-Jouët Belle Epoque 2008 comes from a grape harvest marked by a difficult early spring, with cool temperatures and little sunshine. This continued into the summer, accompanied by abundant rainfall. Only the return of warmer weather at the start of September endowed the 2008 vintage with a note of freshness and a nicely rounded mouthfeel, enabling it to display a subtle balance of delicacy and structure.
While preserving the House style, Hervé Deschamps blended this cuvée to emphasise the unique character of the 2008 vintage. His blend brings out the freshness and elegance of the Chardonnay (50%) from the grands crus of Cramant and Avize. From the Montagne de Reims, the Pinot Noir (45%) display a generosity and delicate complexity that prolong the Chardonnay’s finesse. Finally, the rounded charm of the Pinot Meunier (5%) from Dizy provides the finishing touch to this beautifully balanced cuvée.
50% Chardonnay from Cramant and Avize; 45% Pinot Noir from Montagne de Reims and Verzy; 5% meunier from estate wines in Dizy to bridge Chardonnay and Pinot Noir; 9g/L
The generous, sunny, buttery mood of Perrier-Jouet is well countered by the tension and definition of the great 2008 season, creating a Belle Epoque of heightened lemon purity and elevating the chalk mineral emphasis of Cramant and Avize.
True to the season , It;s backward and primary, with sublime parisian patisserie complexity providing interest to its white-fruit purity.
It upholds the silky succulence and creamy approachability of the house, yet does so with greater focus, line and energy then ever. The result is a quite magnificient, the most compelling vintage under this label for as long as I can recall.
