Mongeard-Mugneret Grands-Echézeaux Grand Cru 2010
Moderate wood frames a wonderfully spicy nose of red and dark berry fruit that also displays lovely floral notes, in particular violet as well as a herbal hint. The wood is sufficiently strong to influence the texture of the very rich and overtly muscular broad-shouldered flavours that possess excellent mid-palate concentration and again, plenty of dry extracts. The powerful and linear finish is not especially refined but this is very serious and the amount of stuffing is such that this should eventually integrate the oak treatment.
