Lots of pleasure here. It’s more than medium-bodied but isn’t overblown, instead retains its juicy, plush-fruited mojo and offers a wine of substance yet restraint. There are dark fruit scents of plums, choc-berries, olive, earth, and mahogany woody spice, with a spread of dark fruit flavours bound with webs of dusty, cedary tannin. The wine builds from breadth to a pinching, dry, chewy, salty finish. It’s bold and warming, with lots of flavours and good structure. It’s an oak-dominated wine at present, but pretty well done here.
