Mongeard-Mugneret Echézeaux La Grande Complication Grand Cru 2013

This is the most floral wine in the range with its elegant, pure and intensely spicy nose that displays mostly notes of both red and dark currants. There is outstanding richness and volume to the big-bodied flavours that possess a lush, indeed opulent palate impression before concluding in a lingering if slightly woody finish. The old vines definitely show as there is fine phenolic maturity to the supporting tannins. Note that here too the depth is only average for a fine Ech at present though there is obviously plenty of time that will pass before this will be fully ready for prime-time drinking.
