The 2016 vintage certainly lays on the charm here. It’s supple, red fruit and cherry, shows some light biscuity oak spice, a rosy perfume, and a smattering of dried herbs. Tannin is fine, but lends a pleasing grip, ripe cherry, and a bit of toast in the mix, though nothing overt, the acidity is cool and even, and the finish is long with an aniseed tint. It’ll age but it’s very appealing as a young wine too.
