The 2017 Pernand-Vergelesses 1er Cru Sous Frétille Blanc reveals aromas of ripe citrus, confit lemon, white flowers and a touch of struck match from its recent racking. On the palate, the wine is medium to full-bodied, fleshy and textural, with succulent acids and a comparatively open-knit profile. This is one of the most charming, accessible wines in the collection.
Sunnier than Charlemagne, more south-facing. Plateau at around 300 m. Picked before the village vines and earlier than Charlemagne. Tank sample.
More mealy on the nose than Les Combottes. That incredible creaminess without the graininess of lees, as if the lees had been polished. Deep, tender, and rounded but with the beautiful freshness of tight tangy citrus. Great length.
