Description

The Cabernet is classic Yarra Valley - medium-bodied and elegant, exuding red berry fruits like raspberries and plums and makes up 91% of the blend. The 9% Malbec also shows bright red fruits while adding a savoury, Australian garrigue character and pleasant complexity to the wine.

The wine spent 22 days on skins, followed by 14 months in French oak - 30% new - adding support and some texture without overpowering the fruit and freshness.

With an extensive family history in Bordeaux, it’s no wonder Dominique Portet has such a deft touch with this style of wines.

Cabernet dominant, with a nice touch of Malbec, this wine is bright and definitively medium-bodied. Tart red berries on the nose, while on the palate more of the same, in a fresh frame.

There is a real elegant charm to this wine, from a single-vineyard on their Coldstream estate, this wine is supple and bright, not to mention simply exceptional value for money all things considered.

Tasting Profile

Palate
Lots of juicy berries and cherry, a little mint and spice, and nutty vanilla oak. Good flavour, a little mouth-perfume, ripe tannin, vanilla wafer, fresh feel too, though just has a little hardness to it at present, which should settle with time, and the finish is bright and satisfying too, some spicy biscuit in the mix.
