The pursuit of fruit off of the Smith family’s organic certified ‘Ruchioch’ Polish Hill vineyard was an aspirational goal for Col McBryde for a decade.
While the vine age, elevation and soil profiles are all similar to Col's Polish Hill River source, Ruchioch is a very low cropping site, giving delicious and intensely flavoured fruit.
Riesling with pulpy mid-palate concentration and texture, and amazingly dominant acid, all combined to create a very lively wine!
Bath salts, lime and spice, with a lovely chalky feel to texture, a certain savoury edge, tight acidity, such good grainy texture and complexity, with a very long finish, and a quinine-like tang in the aftertaste. So engaging and good to drink.
