The Ballot-Millot estate has been located in Meursault since the seventeenth century. Charles Ballot, who took over the reins in 2000, outlawed chemical weeding and introduced soil ploughing. By modernizing the company's production tools, Charles Ballot can offer cuvées of great regularity on prestigious Burgundy appellations. With plots located in Meursault, Chassagne-Montrachet, Volnay, Pommard, and Beaune, the wines of this historic house are gaining ground and come alongside the most beautiful references of this terroir.
Chevalier-Montrachet is one of five grand cru vineyards on the Mont-Rachet hill at the very southern end of the Côte d'Or. Like all of the top vineyards in this part of the Côte de Beaune, Chevalier-Montrachet is planted to Chardonnay and makes structured, full-bodied white wines that are often regarded as the ultimate expression of the variety. With its pale gold colour, this Chevalier-Montrachet grand cru reveals notes of citrus and flowers. The palate shows great flexibility, always fresh. It is a wine with excellent aging potential.
