Château de Campuget Saperavi Sans Sulfites 1753 2021
Evidence of Campuget’s history is dated back to 1753 by a document found in the winery after the Dalle Family took over. Current owner Franklin’s Grandfather was the first of the Dalle family to own Campuget after a doctor encouraged him to move to the south of France after sustaining an injury from the war to help with his recovery. Coming from the brewing world, the Dalle family were the only other owners of Campuget in more than 300 years!
Campuget are located in Nimes. In the ‘Magic Triangle’ The winery is located in Languedoc for tax purposes, in Provence for French Tourism, and vineyards located within Rhone’s Costieres de Nimes. A region formerly Languedoc but given the wines more resemble Rhone it was declared and now administrated by The Rhone Wine Administration.
Saperavi is native to Georgia - Kakheti region - where it has been cultivated for a very long time. We find this variety in many countries such as Russia, Bulgaria, the Caucasus, Crimea, ... and we will take care not to confuse it with others, it is true quite close, bearing the name of sapéravi generally followed by another name. In France, the "real Saperavi" is hardly known.

On the nose, the expression of morello cherry is surprising.
On the palate, the tannins are supple, rich, powerful. Finally, a precise and rigorous aging made it possible to keep the wine all its freshness, a guarantee of long aging. A surprising grape variety, a real discovery.
