In 2018, a mild and wet winter transitioned into an equally rainy spring, setting the stage for a unique growing season. The early budbreak in April unfolded seamlessly, with the flourishing flowering undeterred by occasional May showers. This vintage, marked by mildew pressure, demanded meticulous care in the vineyards, necessitating additional hedging to ensure the vines' robust health.
Following an extended rainy period, the summer brought dry conditions, alleviated by the clay and limestone soils' ability to retain moisture from earlier rains. September graced us with ideal weather, facilitating exceptional ripening leading up to the harvest, which spanned from September 24 to October 13.

This is a young wine that is knitted down in flavour but it is not tight or difficult to navigate. You feel the breadth and complexity to the fruit, along with juicy powerful freshness, and the gourmet packing of liquorice and chocolate. These are big wines that are big but expertly balanced by slate and crushed stone minerality, giving balance and succulence.
Subtle aromas of sweet berries, Spanish cedar and blackberries with some black mushrooms. Medium-to full-bodied with fine yet chewy tannins and a long finish. Solid and racy. Tight now. Drink after 2024.
Deep garnet-purple in color, the 2018 Lassegue features expressive notes of stewed red and black plums, boysenberries and Black Forest cake, plus hints of damp soil, black truffles and tapenade. The medium to full-bodied palate delivers bags of black berry preserves flavors, supported by soft, approachable tannins and just enough freshness, finishing earthy.
