This is their best cuvee from a surface of 3.75 hectares, with 8,000 vines per hectare, and with most of the vines are 27 years old and some 7 years old. Yields are low with an average of 30hl / ha. The grapes are hand harvested in small crates including sorting in the vineyard. No foulage or no added yeast. Fermentation in concrete tanks. Aging in a reductive environment for 12 months in barrels with 50% of new oak barrels. Barrel makers are Taransaud, Ermitage, Berthomieu and Stockinger. Only 6,000 bottles are produced each year. Aromatics: Beautiful nose, this is a very perfumed wine with subtle smoky woody aromas perfectly integrated with just ripe blackberries and blackcurrants. This wine is all about finesse and I could keep smelling it for hours with its dark chocolate and earthy notes.
Palate: Soft and velvety attack, opening on a fleshy spherical wine with texture and impressive length. Like on the nose blackberries and blackcurrant are the main event here this is one of the prettiest Margaux I had the chance to taste. The tannins are present yet gentle and polished, I also like the sense of place and length of this wine as well as the smart use of oak and limited extraction. I think this gives the wine that perfect complexity and drinkability balance. This is a wine I love to drink and share now
