The Reserve Cellar is extremely proud to present an exceedingly rare and exclusive opportunity to purchase ‘box set’ collections of museum stock direct from the cellars of the House of Comte du Vogue.

Featuring 3 packs of the extraordinary Comte du Vogue “Les Amoureuses” across 14 renowned Burgundy vintages. These rare museum wine 3 packs of Comte du Vogue “Les Amoureuses” have just arrived and we are excited to release the entire collection exclusively to Burgundy wine lovers in Australia. This is a unique opportunity for a wine buff to create an immediate cellar with such depth and perfection with the knowledge that all the wines are in absolute mint condition and offered exclusively to you!

Having 3 bottles of each great vintage means you can open one to share on that “very special occasion” and still have two precious left in the cellar. There is only one pack available per vintage.

Domaine Comte Georges de Vogüé is unique as it can trace its history all the way back to the 15th century. Since then the Domaine has remained in the hands of the same family by inheritance or marriage. De Vogüé is also unique in that they only make wines from Chambolle-Musigny. All vineyards are grown in a more or less organic way, though this is not indicated on the label or certified. More than 12.5ha are owned. The main Grand Crus are Musigny and Bonnes-Mares. Domaine Comte Georges de Vogüé also owns 0.56ha of Chambolle- Musigny’s Amoureuses vineyard, a premier cru situated just below Musigny and regarded by many as of grand cru quality. For 10 years Bourgogne has used horses to plough Amoureuses to protect the vines, which were planted in 1964 and 1974. Their parcels are on stony topsoils over oolitic limestone. Millet characterises the wine: ‘It’s the first lady of Chambolle, but not frivolous.’ Or, to extend his metaphor, it’s like Musigny’s little sister, always refined, yet never lacking backbone.

Review

This is notably more restrained with its elegant and cool if grudging nose that is composed of a wonderfully spicy mélange of both red and blue pinot fruit, wet stone, tangerine peel, and Asian-style tea. There is an ultra-refined and strikingly pure palate feel to the intense and stony medium-bodied flavours where the supporting tannins are dense but fine and this sense of refinement continues onto the succulent, silky, and hugely long finish. This is positively crystalline in its purity and this is an absolute knockout.

Review

Tasted blind at the Burgfest tasting in Beaune, the 2013 Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru Les Amoureuses has a perfumed bouquet with heightened floral notes: impressive delineation with the red fruit usurped by black with time in the glass. The palate is medium-bodied with ripe tannin and acidity that is perhaps singing from a different hymn book. There is body and volume here, though it is missing a little persistence on the finish, and runs out the back door before you have really got acquainted. Afford these 4 - 5 years to fully coalesce and I am sure it will merit a higher score. Tasted September 2016.
