Description

The cool yet sunny environment of our Te Awanga Vineyard near Cape Kidnappers allows the development of intense Chardonnay flavours in the grapes, captured using traditional winemaking techniques seen in the Chablis region of France.

Here is a serious style of Chardonnay from Craggy Range.

The winemaking here is generally pretty stripped back, allowing the fruit to shine. It's big in flavour but beautifully balanced.

An excellent rendition of the variety from this marquee Hawke's Bay producer, that will keep you topping up your glass.

Excellent value Kiwi Chardonnay from blue-chip winery, Craggy Range.

Review

Beautifully crafted chardonnay with tangy, saline, mineral characters that echo the coastal sea air. Mouth-watering wine with a limestone-like character and integrated spicy French oak.

Review

Mineral and white pepper with oyster shell aromas to the cooked apple and pear character. It’s medium-bodied with lovely phenolics and focus. Drink now.

Tasting Profile

Nose
This wine is pale lime to pale straw in colour. Instantly you are reminded of the coastal nature of this vineyard, with aromas of oyster shell, sea spray and cashew all present in the bouquet. Overall, the mouth feels vibrant and fresh, with lively acidity, but not at the expense of flavour.
Palate
Fresh lemon curd and supple oak round out a palate that is as delicious as it is refreshing.
