Le Sol, a manifestation of the esteemed Gimblett Gravels viticultural appellation, derives its essence from sun-kissed gravelly soils that warmly embrace the vines in summer and provide a protective insulation during winter. Nestled in the stoniest corners of the vineyard, our heritage clone of Syrah, transplanted to New Zealand in the 1840s, thrives under meticulous hand management. The result is a profound, dark Syrah with regal purple hues. Le Sol consistently unveils an aromatic purity, gracing the palate with a luscious yet refined mid-palate and culminating in a distinctive finish characterized by finely woven tannins.
An exceptionally warm spring expedited the onset of the growing season. Subsequently, the mild summer, coupled with minimal rainfall, yielded lower volumes. This combination resulted in near-ideal ripening conditions for Syrah, enhancing the overall quality of the harvest.
