Domaine Henri Gouges Nuits-Saint-Georges Clos des Porrets 1er Cru 2021
Monopoly with an area of 3.6 hectares, this plot is located just below Perrières, a former Nuits Saint Georges quarry which was exploited by the monks of Citeaux. Sitting on the pink limestone of Premeaux and very stony, the Clos des Porrets is made up of limestone scree and soils rich in clay on the lower slopes.
The aging wines that result from it express a beautiful finesse after a few years in bottle. Les Porrets were notably cited by Dr Lavalle in 1855, author of a famous work on Burgundy wines, who considered it one of the best wines of the commune.
The vineyard: the 1.8 hectares of this plot benefit from an ideal location and sunshine in the heart of the Nuiton vineyard. Sometimes young (15 years old), sometimes older (70 years old for the oldest), these vines give shape to wines with aromas of wild fruits and venison, full of minerality.
The estate: this premier cru expresses with excellence all the typicality of the wines of the Côte Nuitonne and its rows of vines clinging to the slopes of the hillside: wines of great finesse, developing beautiful bouquet qualities.
Blend: a blend of a few other plots (1.70 hectares in total) located to the south of the village of Nuits, and another, located at the top of the embankment, called "Jacquinot", ideally placed above the premiers crus. Of good constitution, these wines wonderfully illustrate the typicality of Les Nuits, both in length and in power.
The Saint-Georges takes both from the Pruliers for its energy but also from the Vaucrains in its volume of mouth and its base. It is the most complete of the three.
