Description

Fire Gully is located at Willyabrup in the heart of Western Australia’s Margaret River wine region. Fire Gully farm was one of the original group settlement blocks taken up in 1922 in the Willyabrup locality of the Margaret River district. The property was eponymously named after two large bush fires in 1952 and 1970 ravaged the gully which runs through the central block. The first vines were planted in 1988 and the plantings extended in 1992 and 1997. Wines express the very essence of Margaret River regionality and quality and are recognised for consistent excellence with each passing vintage.

Under Dr. Michael Peterkin's stewardship, Fire Gully has flourished since its acquisition in 1998. Meticulous care, including a shift to Scott Henry trellising, optimizes sun exposure for fruit quality. Anchored in Wilyabrup's renowned soil, Fire Gully vineyard stands as a testament to the region's viticultural excellence and promise.

Review
Aged in old oak for 10 months, no mlf. It’s ready to drink and deliciously so. A little flinty, plenty of grapefruit and lemon, nougat and sweet white nectarines. Some ginger spice pops up, luscious creamy lees, just the right amount, and it’s savoury with mouth-watering acidity. Such a good drink.

Bright and vibrant in the glass. Lifted aromas of grapefruit pith, just-ripe white stone-fruit, green melon, nougat and nutty oak. Mouth-filling, textured, layered and complex. Nectarine, peach, pithy citrus and creamy oak. There’s plenty of weight and flesh and the acidity is crunchy and snappy.
