Frerejean Frères Cuvée des Hussards 1er Cru 2005
The Frerejean Taittinger brothers are the latest generation in a line of cannon-makers, who supplied the French army defending the region against the Prussians, during the Napoleonic Wars. Frerejean Frères take a fresh approach to Champagne, which respects traditional methods but leaves room for innovation. Rooted in the grand cru village of Avize, Frerejean Frères only uses grand cru and premier cru plots from the Côte des Blancs. Blanc de Blancs from specific vieilles vignes from Premier and Grand Cru plots of the Côte des Blancs. Cramant, Avize, Grauves & Chouilly, Vertus. Named in homage to Napolean’s light cavalry – who was the first to use the art of sabrage, Cuvée des Hussards is powerful.
A Museum Vintage with only 80 bottles available worldwide.
The nose is dense with touches of white and yellow candied fruits like apple, pear, apricot, and peach with a medley of saffron and curry spices finishing with a touch of light toasted aromas.
