Crafted by Maurizio & Paolo Giacosa, their wines exude oenological potency while consistently embodying the essence of tradition and balance. These defining qualities shine through as the duo meticulously established sun-kissed vineyards in Bassarin, embracing a dedicated commitment to the meticulous production process—a significant transition from wine merchants to esteemed wine producers. Notably, their Barbaresco, aged in large barrels, stands as a testament to their success. Remarkably, this excellence comes with an approachable price point, making their exceptional wines an indulgence that doesn't compromise affordability.
Natural cork.
Serious Barbaresco here. The house likes the elegance offered by 2018 and 2020, with the 2016 the favourite (it is everyone’s favourite), but this is a fine example of the style with some heft. Drink those other vintages while this emerges from its cocoon. And for the future, keep an eye on 2021. The wine saw time in barriques. Notes of strawberries, hints of florals and bay leaves, with some truffle and darker berry notes as well. Good persistence, fine balance and soft, lengthy tannins. A decade at least ahead of it. Delicious drinking.
Attractive orange-peel, green-strawberry and mushroom aromas and flavors. Medium-bodied with firm tannins that give a vertical feeling to the end of the palate. Give it a couple of years to soften. Try after 2024.
