Greywacke Chardonnay 2022
Kevin Judd’s Greywacke Chardonnay is an outstanding style from the Marlborough region of New Zealand. Fermented with indigenous yeast in French oak barriques (20% new) it goes through complete malolactic fermentation, spending 18 months in oak with occasional lees stirring, producing a savoury, rich and powerful wine with great texture and concentration. A full-bodied and intensely complex chardonnay from one of Marlborough's finest producers.

On the nose, there's marzipan, pineapple and red apple, underpinned by jasmine, grapefruit and ripe lemon flesh. A heavenly curry leaf, dukkah and hazelnut complexity shines through the layers of fruit. A low-intervention style with nutty, smoky aromas overlaying ripe citrus fruit character.
This is edging towards full-bodied yet reigns in the concentration with an enduring crescendo of unripe nectarine acidity. An emphatic wine with mouth-filling mealy flavours and characteristic Mendoza concentration and spine – crisp, long, and lingering.
