Derived from a vineyard first planted in 1999 within the cool embrace of Sonoma Coast's misty terroir, this particular site represents Kutch's most challenging yet intriguing winemaking endeavor. Fermented with 50% whole clusters and thoughtfully aged in seasoned barrels, the resulting wine exudes a vibrant, supple character, adorned with vivid notes of black cherry and berry, complemented by delicate floral nuances. However, beneath this brightness lies a subtle austerity on the palate, revealing a core of invigorating acidity and a savory, faintly cedary accent that underscores the pure fruit essence. A study in precision, this wine embodies a restrained elegance, withholding its full potential for the future, promising a rewardingly pleasurable evolution, while concluding with a linear and refreshingly juicy finish.
From a vineyard planted in 1999 in a cold, foggy pocket of the Sonoma Coast. It’s Kutch’s most marginal site, and this is fermented 50% whole cluster and is aged in old barrels. It’s very fresh and supple with bright black cherry and berry fruits, with some floral overtones, but also a bit of sternness on the palate, which shows good acidity and a savoury, slightly cedary edge to the pure fruit. Lovely precision here: a somewhat nervy, taut wine that’s holding back on pleasure right now, but which will certainly deliver it in the future. Linear and quite juicy on the finish.
