The estate was founded in 1843 by Dr. Henry J Lindeman who planted his first vineyard in the Hunter Valley. Over the years, the brand has acquired vineyards in the Hunter Valley, Victoria and South Australia allowing for significant growth and expansion. Now part of the Treasury Wine Estate’s portfolio, Lindemans is best known for its series of highly popular Bin Series commercial wines, however it also produces a range of premium age-worthy wines including the Limestone Ridge Shiraz Cabernet.

Review

A fully mature Hunter shiraz in great voice at 35 years old. It's very complex and full of leathery, earthy, 'roasting pan' regional Hunter character; concentrated, deep and satisfying. A big, drought-year wine, which is holding its stature well." Tasted July 2018

Tasting Profile

Nose
Delicate and fine nose, aged Shiraz fruit, raspberries, earth, blackcurrant cordial, cherry kitsch, lovely.
Palate
Flavours are muted, slight redcurrant tartness, tannins are very distant (most were encrusted on the inside of the bottle), interesting. Day 2 and this is lovely. Refined and delicate. There’s a tiny prune note, it’s fresh, anise and Christmas, red fruit. Very good. 41 years old and drinking superbly.
