The quintessence of Meursault, crisp and fine in youth with a beguiling minerality, this great wine will develop richness and complexity in bottle. 100% fermented in wooden barrels and aged for 15 months in the barrels before bottling.
The Meursault vineyards, comprising 30 percent in nine Premiers Crus and 70 percent in village vineyards, sprawl over gentle slopes, situated between 230 and 360 meters above sea level. Benefiting from an ideal eastern orientation for maximum sunlight, the chalky soils with white marl create an optimal environment for the Chardonnay grape, which exclusively defines Meursault's character.
In 2021, climatic oscillations and early frosts posed challenges, impacting grape health and yields, yet meticulous vineyard management and a favorable September allowed for a carefully timed harvest. Despite the year's shifts in weather, Meursault, nestled in the heart of the Côte de Beaune, continues to produce wines of distinctive quality, shaped by the unique terroir and enduring winemaking traditions.
Crisp, refreshing, and linear, this has a beautiful gooseberry and quince fruit character with hints of a flinty minerality. It is perhaps less rich than the white from Beaune Grèves. There is a nice tension on the palate, but with time there is a rich, almost fat impression as the wine opens up. From a one-hectare parcel that Jadot owns at the same elevation as Meursault Perrières.
Meursault is the centre of the four communes (Meursault, Blagny, Chassagne and Puligny) that make up that part of the Côte de Beaune known as the "Côte de Blancs", known for the quality and predominance of its white wines.
