The commune of Aloxe-Corton boasts a unique distinction, with over half of its expanse enveloped in Grand Cru vineyards, featuring an exposure that spans from east to south and southwest.
Among these Grand Cru vineyards, Les Pougets stands out, positioned adjacent to the Le Charlemagne climat on the upper and mid-slope. In this distinguished terroir, characterized by variegated soils alternating between chalk and iron-rich marl, the artful craftsmanship yields both Corton Pougets and Corton Charlemagne.
This Grand Cru wine gracefully pairs with a spectrum of culinary delights, including roasted salmon, chicken, grilled red meat such as beef and lamb chops, osso buco, stew, ragout, bœuf bourguignon, duck, partridge, quail, deer, young wild boar, teppanyaki beef, and the classic accompaniment of mashed potatoes with salted butter, complemented by Cîteaux and Mont d’Or cheeses.
The 2021 Corton-Pougets Grand Cru has a wonderful bouquet with transparent red cherry, raspberry and floral notes. This wine is classy and seductive. The palate is medium-bodied with ripe tannins. It's lithe and agile in the mouth with a mineral undertow towards the finish. Often one of Jadot's classiest offerings, this Pougets is no different and one of their stars in 2021.
Concentrated powerful crimson red, with slightly darker raspberry fruit. Quite a good concentration in the middle before the tannins come up behind, along with some acidity. Will become more supple with time. The fruit itself is on the elegant side. Drink from 2027-2033. Tasted: October 2022.
