Loads of immediate, up-front appeal to this wine. Quite seductive. Very much in the red fruit camp showing red berry, dehydrated strawberry, pomegranate, plus an underlay of white chalk and faint inclusions of ripe, brown twig. Light to medium bodied, youthful and immediately persuasive, it looks great now and will develop very nicely over 5-10 years. - Ches Cook, FWC.
Our sole valley floor vineyard is a wonderful example of valley floor Pinot Noir. Due to experiencing more winds, these wines are often more purfumed and lifted without the fruit density of some cooler sites. With classic clay loams and mudstone, the perfume and long clay soil finish dominates. The wine shows delicate aromatics of soft talcy florals and pulpy red plum. The palate is fleshy with dark red fruits, baked rhubarb and a touch of savoury cacao. Firm structure across the mid palate melts to a generous lingering finish. - Mac Forbes.
