Description

The Mumm Terroirs Collection is a celebration of the world’s most prestigious Pinot Noir regions, endorsed by avant-garde Champagne Maison, G.H. Mumm. This family of sparkling wines each celebrates its region’s true sense of place and unique terroir. Mumm Terroirs’ winemakers use Méthode Traditionnelle, a process used by G.H. Mumm to create its exceptional champagnes, a complex, long and demanding practice that allows
the wines to fully develop a wealth of flavours. In the embrace of its encircling mountain ranges, blessed with a cool climate and soils of low fertility, Central Otago emerges as a veritable haven for cultivating exemplary Pinot Noir wines of unparalleled elegance.

Drawing upon G.H. Mumm's illustrious 200-year legacy of championing Pinot Noir-centric wines, the inclusion of Central Otago into the Maison's esteemed Terroirs Collection was a natural progression. This collection reveres the essence of each region and the distinctive character of its terroir. Nestled amidst some of the southernmost vineyards globally, Central Otago's rugged mountain vistas and temperate climate converge harmoniously, fashioning an idyllic environment for the cultivation of exceptional Pinot Noir. Flourishing in these ideal conditions, Central Otago's Pinot Noir epitomizes elegance and finesse, a testament to the region's vinicultural prowess.

Review

Classic and inviting with a moderately intense autolysis drive with a clear scent of brioche then wholewheat bread, white fleshed peach, a ripe grapefruit peel then apple and medium+ complexity overall. Dry with a plush mousse and fine bubble, ripe with white fleshed fruit flavours that mirror the bouquet, a light citrus quality and lengthy finish. A wine of texture and freshness with classic scents and flavours of a well made sparkling wine. Balanced and well made with best drinking from late 2023 through 2029.
