Pol Roger Brut Vintage 2016
Pol Roger’s 2016 vintage Champagne is made from the traditional house vintage blend of 60% Pinot Noir and 40% Chardonnay sourced from 20 Grands and Premiers crus vineyards in the Montagne de Reims and the Côte des Blancs regions.
Seafood (oysters, lobster, and scallops) to poultry, creamy cheeses, and even delicate appetisers like foie gras or sushi.
A fine, satiny mousse slowly subsides to reveal a pale straw coloured base that has pale gold-tinged edges with a generous and very fine bead flowing through to the surface. On the nose leading the way in classic Pol Roger style are aromatics of yeast lees and brioche followed by some citrus, cashew, subtle dried honey and faint oily toast like notes.
Rich and creamy textured yet wonderfully light and airy across the palate. A sophisticated flavour profile of baked bread, yeast lees, delicate cashew, citrusy honeyed like characters, ginger, chalk and oily toast elements extend through to a very long and pillowy finish that’s beautifully sculptured by mouthwatering acidity.
