The Domaine de La Pousse d’Or is distinguished by its 7 grand crus, and 11 premier crus including 3 monopoles, in Côte de Beaune and Côte de Nuits. Offering you the purest expression of our exceptional terroirs has been Domaine’s obsession for centuries.
Today, their biodynamic work in the vines, the long and gentle organic-controlled vinification, accompanied by aging on lees, contribute to respect for the exceptional balance, and richness, of the unique Pinot Noir grape varieties for the reds and Chardonnay for the whites, worked by the women and men of Domaine de la Pousse d’Or.
Le Clos du Roi is a highly-regarded climat of the Corton Grand Cru appellation in the Cote de Beaune district of Burgundy. This walled site - roughly translated as its name means "the walled vineyard of the king" - is located high on the eastern slopes of the Montagne de Corton hill. Wines from the Clos du Roi are almost exclusively from Pinot Noir and a number of top Burgundy producers have plots here.
A slightly fresher nose speaks of ripe dark berries laced with notes of earth, forest floor, and pretty floral nuances. The mouthfeel of the medium-weight flavours is sleeker though not denser with good minerality on the delineated, balanced, and very firm finale. This is a Clos du Roi of class and grace yet one that should also amply repay extended cellaring.
