The Côte de Nuits is the northern half of the Côte d'Or wine region in Burgundy (the southern half being the Côte de Beaune). It specializes in red wines based on Pinot Noir, the most famous and expensive of which come from the Grands Crus of Vosne-Romanée and Chambolle-Musigny. About 95% of all wines produced in Côte de Nuits come from a single grape variety: Pinot Noir. The district is widely regarded as the spiritual homeland of Pinot Noir, a reputation strongly enhanced by high-quality wines such as the Romanée-Conti Grand Cru.
Burgundy from a superb vintage, a top-notch producer, a famed region and one not forcing consumers to mortgage their houses – what is not to love? Deep garnet hue, this offers such an alluring nose. Spices, rose petals, dry herbs, notes of aniseed, cherries, a hint of bergamot and cloves. Quite savoury in style. The texture is delightfully supple, there is bright yet gentle acidity and a lingering finish. Offers fabulous drinking over the next six to eight years. The real thing and drinking beautifully.
