The 2021 Pinots are delicate and finer than 2020's, which is predictable from the cooler season. A homage to the Pinot Noir that used to be made, this showcases the classic 'Upper Yarra' characteristics. It offers a similar purity and prettiness to the 2012 vintage whilst still having great structure and concentration, an iron fist in a velvet glove. This wine sees the first introduction of different clones, Pommard and Abel. Whilst these wines have not supplied much to the volume of the blend, it sees a great future in how it contributes to flavor and structure of the wine.
Since the first vintage in 1976, Seville Estate has cemented its position as one of Australia’s premium wineries, consistently receiving widespread acclaim and many prestigious awards, both in Australia and internationally.
Surprisingly in a region more renowned for its red wines produced from Cabernet and Pinot Noir, it was the Seville Estate Shiraz that received the most attention, quickly becoming one of Victoria’s most sought after wines.
Made from MV6 planted in 1996; 70% whole berries,30% whole bunches; matured in hogsheads and puncheons (30% new). A light, bright crimson cherry. Fragrant with aromas of cranberries and strawberries, some whole-bunch derived dried rose petals and a soupçon of Asian spices. It's a pretty wine but it has depth and structure too, finishing long with fine-grained and persistent tannins and a refreshing bitter orange twist.
