Tenute del Cabreo La Pietra Chardonnay 2018
The first white Supertuscan made from Chardonnay grapes grown on Tenuta Casa di Sala in Panzano in Chianti. La Pietra was an innovation in the Chianti wine scene when in 1983 Ambrogio and Giovanni Folonari decided to vinify and age the Chardonnay grapes as they already did with the great Tuscan red wines. The result is a surprising white for its impressive aptitude for long refinements in the bottle.
Floral and tropical fruits are among the complex aromas of this wine complemented by rich flavors and great structure followed by an outstanding minerality and crisp acidity.
Pairs well with roast chicken, pork, scampi and other shellfish dishes, especially those prepared with butter, and aged cheeses.
The 2018 vintage reveals a bouquet of white peaches, ripe apples, chamomile, vanilla, and acacia honey.
Full-bodied on the palate, this Supertuscan is characterized by a relevant flavour and intensity. Fresh and soft on the finish.
