This marks the seventh release of Down to Earth Sauvignon Blanc from their closely spaced Crayères Vineyard. The winemaking process involves the vinification of two separate parcels, with one portion resting in stainless steel and the remainder aging in large, well-seasoned oak barrels. The 2018 vintage introduces a departure from previous releases, embracing a riper style.
This Sauvignon Blanc, a testament to their unwavering commitment to quality, is poised for potential transformation through bottle aging. With time, it promises to unveil heightened layers of complexity and intricacy, providing a fascinating glimpse into the future evolution of this remarkable vintage.
This perfumed wine comes from a limestone-rich region on the southeastern edge of South Australia. It sees partial fermentation in large oak barrels and time on lees aging in stainless steel and oak. The result is pretty floral aromas along with orange peel, grapefruit, figs and white spice. The mouthfeel is slightly chalky and textural, lifted by zingy acidity and lots more citrusy fruit. It's a clean and likable drop.
