For five generations, the Vietti family has nurtured their winemaking legacy in the heart of Le Langhe, Piedmont, specifically in Castiglione Falletto. Their dedication is evident through 33 estate vineyards spanning all 11 communes designated for the cultivation and crafting of Barolo. Additionally, they venture into Roero for Arneis and Agliano Asti for Barbera and Moscato. In 2016, the American Krause family acquired Vietti, but the stewardship of the Vietti Estate remains in the capable hands of current-generation winemaker Luca Currado-Vietti and his wife Elena Penna-Currado. Together, they meticulously oversee the production of some of Le Langhe's most exquisite and authentic wines.
The grapes for this particular wine hail from the renowned MGA "Ravera" vineyard nestled in the municipality of Novello. This vineyard boasts a soil composition rich in limestone, clay, and Marls of Saint Agatha, while its western/south-western exposure on the hillside contributes to its unique character.
The 2019 Barolo Ravera emerges as the epitome of mineral intensity and saline character within the Barolo lineup. It dances with notes of crushed rocks, white pepper, delicate flowers, zesty orange, red berry fruit, and vibrant acidity, all meticulously woven into this finely sculpted and chiseled Barolo. Enthusiasts who seek Barolos that exude energy and tension will be captivated by the Ravera. Over the years, this Barolo has held a special place in the hearts of many, and the 2019 vintage adds yet another magnificent layer to Vietti's dark horse—a wine that has consistently challenged for the throne over the past decade, often emerging victorious.
