A tribute to Dom Thierry Ruinart, the visionary figure on the initiative of Ruinart's foundation, Dom Ruinart Blanc de Blancs is a creation inspired by the exceptional vintages of Chardonnay. The first Dom Ruinart Blanc de Blancs was created in 1959. A rosé cuvée closely followed with the 1966 vintage. As for the whites, chardonnay is the keyword for Dom Ruinart rosés. After the Second World War, the cellars of the house were empty and seized during the occupation. It is only in 2017 that the cellar master Frédéric Panaïotis finds what appears to be the last bottle of this very first vintage. It is preciously kept in the cellar master's oenotheque in the heart of the Ruinart chalk cellar in Reims.
Dom Ruinart’s 2009 Prestige Blanc de Blancs is 100% Chardonnay from the very best of Chouilly, Avize, and Le Mesnil. Dom Ruinart 2009 reveals an intense golden colour enhanced with hints of almond green, while Sun-kissed aromas of both fleshy and crisp fruit ensue, sun-ripened lemon or mouth-watering apricot nuances and ripe nectarines from the orchard. Floral yet fruity, with white floral notes and honeyed accents. The bouquet evolves towards candied fruits, almond paste, and orange blossom, combined with a fresh, chalky character.
Rich and elegant, while a delicate acidity meets the freshness of stone fruit to create wonderful sapidity on the palate. Beautifully balanced, Dom Ruinart 2009 is a flavourful and vivacious wine with a long and subtle finish. Its delicate effervescence only enhances its refined texture.
A fabulous blanc de blancs showing amazing pure chardonnay character with sliced cooked apple, mangos, and cream aromas and flavours. Full-bodied, layered, and flavorful. Beautiful acid backbone. It changes in the glass turning minerally and oyster shell-like.
