Riccardo-Guido, Chiara, Enrico, Roberto, Elisa, and Luca Recchia the latest generation have the same passion as their grandparents but have improved upon their roots. For over a hundred years the Recchia family have been master winemakers. For many generations, the family has lived in the heart of Valpolicella in the valley of Negrar. Winemaking is in their blood. Their love for the local terroir and the traditions make their wines special.
The Masua di Jago is in the heart of Valpolicella. The Masua is the hill that divides the valley of Marano from the valley of Negrar. The Recchia family vineyards are situated on the south-facing slopes of the valley. They catch the early morning sunrise but because of the flat slopes of the fields, they also get the rays of the early evening sunset.
The fantastic position of the vineyards creates a classic wine. The flinty soils give the Recchia wines a special taste which when combined with the local scotch pines and cherry blossoms of the field creates fantastic wines. The grapes are harvested on the highest slopes of the Valpolicella valleys. The grapes are slowly dried, then softly pressed and left on the lees to obtain their full colour. The wine is matured in oak barrels and then left to age in the bottle. A unique wine perfect for those special occasions.
