Description

Bouchard Père & Fils Meursault Perrières 1er Cru Magnum 1.5L 2019 is a highly respected wine from one of the finest producers in Burgundy, known for their exceptional quality and diverse vineyards. Bouchard Père & Fils has been established since 1731 and has built up an estate of 130ha, making it the largest owner of Grand Crus (12ha) and Premier Crus (74ha) across the Côte d’Or. They represent almost one hundred ‘climats’ or uniquely diverse vineyards, including prestigious monopoles such as ‘Beaune Grèves Vigne de l’Enfant Jésus’ and ‘Chevalier-Montrachet La Cabotte’.

The stony ground to which the vine clings gives rise to the exceptional "Climat" of the Bouchard Père & Fils Meursault Perrières 1er Cru. This Premier Cru has been renowned for its finesse and pureness for many years. The winemaker, M. de Vergnette, stated in the mid-19th century that "Apart from the true Montrachets, I know of no other white wine so exquisite". Dr. Lavalle mentioned it as "Tête de cuvée" in his 1855 rating.

The Bouchard Père & Fils Meursault Perrières 1er Cru Magnum 1.5L 2019 comes in a magnum bottle size, which provides several benefits. The larger bottle size allows for slower aging and maturation of the wine, resulting in a more balanced and complex flavour. Additionally, the larger size makes for an impressive appearance when presenting the wine at dinner parties or other special occasions. Overall, Bouchard Père & Fils Meursault Perrières 1er Cru Magnum 1.5L 2019 is a highly respected and sought-after wine that promises to be a pure and exquisite experience for the senses.

Review

The 2019 Meursault Les Perrières 1er Cru is quite intense on the nose, although I found more terroir expression on the Genevrières by comparison. The well-balanced palate has a saline entry, a fine bead of acidity, and an intense, quite citric finish; with good salinity on the aftertaste. This Les Perrières has plenty of energy and should offer 15–20 years of drinking.

Review

The 2019 Meursault 1er Cru Les Perrières is very promising, delivering notes of citrus oil, white flowers, mandarin, fresh bread, and struck match. Medium to full-bodied, racy, and chiselled, it's bright and mineral, with a tight, tangy profile that's defined by the site more than the vintage.
