Description

Renowned and respected as one of the finest producers in Burgundy, Bouchard Père et Fils has truly become an institution, known for the exceptional quality of their wines and the diversity of its many vineyards.

Founded in 1731, Bouchard Père et Fils has built up an estate of 130ha and, collectively, is the largest owner of Grand Crus (12ha) and Premier Crus (74ha) across the Côte d’Or. Bouchard Père et Fils represents almost one hundred ‘climats’ or uniquely diverse vineyards, including prestigious monopoles such as ‘Beaune Grèves Vigne de l’Enfant Jésus’ and ‘Chevalier-Montrachet La Cabotte’.

It is the stony ground to which the vine clings that has given rise to the name of this exceptional "Climat": "Perrières". This Premier Cru has been renowned for its finesse and pureness for many years: in the mid-19th century, the winemaker, M. de Vergnette stated in one of his works that "Apart from the true Montrachets, I know of no other white wine so exquisite". Later, Dr. Lavalle mentioned it as "Tête de cuvée" in his 1855 rating.

This bottle is the standard 750ml. If you are looking for the Magnum 1.5L bottle, you can find it here.

Review

The 2019 Meursault Les Perrières 1er Cru is quite intense on the nose, although I found more terroir expression on the Genevrières by comparison. The well-balanced palate has a saline entry, a fine bead of acidity, and an intense, quite citric finish; with good salinity on the aftertaste. This Les Perrières has plenty of energy and should offer 15–20 years of drinking.

Review

The 2019 Meursault 1er Cru Les Perrières is very promising, delivering notes of citrus oil, white flowers, mandarin, fresh bread, and struck match. Medium to full-bodied, racy, and chiselled, it's bright and mineral, with a tight, tangy profile that's defined by the site more than the vintage.
