The Chateau de Meursault Pommard “Clos de Epenots“ Premier Cru 2019 was awarded Winner Decanter World Wine Awards 2021 Best in Class – 97 Points & Platinum Medal - Best Red Burgundy! The World’s most prestigious wine show with over 40 Master of Wines as the head of judging.
Additionally, the leading prestigious Burgundy magazine Bourgogne Aujourdi named Chateau de Meursault as the joint winner of producer of the year.
With over 1000 years of history, Château de Meursault follows an approach of excellence in respect of nature, the environment, and the climates. With the 2022 vintage, the entire vineyard of Château de Meursault will be conducted in organic farming. Château de Meursault, one of the largest estates in Burgundy, produces as many red wines as white wines made respectively from the Pinot Noir and Chardonnay grapes. The 35 appellations including 18 Premiers Crus and 4 Grands Crus all come from their own vines in organic conversion. In 2018, they reduced the weight of the bottle by 15% while preserving the originality of the model designed in the 18th century.
Both Château de Meursault and Château de Marsannay won the title of Best Producers from Bourgogne Aujourd’hui magazine with this laudatory comment from the editorial staff: “Faster, higher, stronger, the motto of the Olympic Games perfectly illustrates the rise in power of the two domains since their acquisition in 2012 by Olivier Halley.
Clos des Epeneaux is one of Pommard's most highly regarded Premier Cru vineyards, located at the base of the Côte d'Or escarpment in the Côte de Beaune region of Burgundy. It is a walled vineyard, nestled between the Grands Epenots and Petits Epenots climats, and like its neighbours, it is planted entirely to Pinot Noir. Clos des Epeneaux Premier Cru wines are full-bodied and complex with elegant, earthy characters and the ability to age for many years. The three vineyards make up the larger Epenots lieu-dit, and wines from all three vineyards can be labelled under that name.
