Description

Domaine Derey is from a lesser known village in Couchey, a village that is sold under the name of it’s better known neighbor Marsannay. Couchey is located north of Fixin and south of Marsannay. The Derey family has been farming these vineyards since 1850 and remains a true family business to this day. The parents, Pierre and Suzanne, run the estate with their 3 sons Maxime, Romain, and Pierre-Marie. The family uses traditional methods to work the vineyards and gentle techniques that respect the soil.

Review

More Arvelets than Hervelets in the blend. A solid darker crimson-purple. Slight lack of freshness on the nose, but it is not in bottle yet, so will doubtless be refreshed. Plenty of volume in the middle, robust tannins behind. Hard to place but pretty good in the darker fruit style with a touch of liquorice. Drink from 2026-2031.
