The G.D. Vajra winery traces its roots back to 1972 when Aldo and Milena Vaira established it, building upon vineyards planted by Aldo’s father in 1947. Named after Aldo’s father, Giuseppe Domenico Vajra, the winery stands as a testament to family heritage and tradition. Today, spanning 40 hectares across Barolo and its environs, the estate boasts prized holdings in Bricco delle Viole, dating back to 1949 and planted by Aldo’s grandfather.
Nurtured by the dedication of Milena and Aldo, their three children—Giuseppe, Francesca, and Isidoro—are integral to the winery's operations in the picturesque village of Vergne. Guided by a deep-rooted commitment to their legacy, community, and the region's rich history, the Vajra family epitomizes hard work, passion, and compassion.
Long-standing friends of Hart & Cru, the Vajra family continues to exemplify their devotion to crafting exceptional wines and fostering meaningful connections. Their classic Moscato, hailing from Asti in Piedmont, embodies the essence of the region—a frizzante delight with a gentle effervescence, modest alcohol content, and natural sweetness, underlined by a delicate floral note. In the words of Guiseppe Vajra, "this Moscato D'Asti is the Redbull of Piedmont," encapsulating the spirit of vivacity and tradition in every sip.
The 2023 Moscato d’Asti DOCG has a beautiful and luminous gold color. Delicate aromas of tropical fruits, orange, zagara (orange blossoms), apricot, golden apple, lemon and white flowers. Well balanced and clean in the mouth, fresh, with gracious creaminess, lively acidity, and delicate and persistent bubbles that refresh and cleanse the palate. – Vajra
