Jacques-Frédéric Mugnier Bonnes-Mares Grand Cru 2019
Our approach to both viticulture and wine-making is aimed at preserving in the wines the purest expression of Nature with minimal interference from technological practices.
We have a pragmatic approach to viticulture and we favour hand work and preventive protection methods in the vineyard. The purpose is not to eradicate pests and diseases but to preserve or restore a rich and active ecosystem.
With healthy and ripe grapes grown on the greatest terroirs, wine-making only has to be kept simple and respectful.
50% of the vines in this .35 ha parcel of Bonne Mares Grand Cru were planted in 1980 and 1988, with the remainder planted in the '50s; the vines run from top to bottom and are planted in both terres rouges and terres blanches with a relative proportion of about 1/3 of the former and 2/3 of the latter

The Bonnes Mares appellation sits astride the village communes of Chambolle-Musigny and Morey-Saint-Denis, it, therefore, presents characteristics intermediate to both appellations. The influence of the Morey terroir gives frankness, firmness and a more earthy character. Then there is the aromatic spectrum of red fruit berries which dominates in Chambolle, blended with more mineral nuances and sometimes hints of forest floor undergrowth.
