Rediscovering the forgotten tradition of Clos de la Maréchale's white wine, our journey began with the unearthing of several exceptional old bottles, tucked away in the depths of our cellar, inspiring us to breathe new life into this rare gem. Thus, since the 2005 vintage, Clos de la Maréchale graces the palate in two exquisite hues.
Embracing innovation rooted in tradition, we embarked on a quest to rejuvenate our Chardonnay vineyards using a seldom-seen technique in Burgundy—top-grafting. Eschewing the conventional approach of uprooting vines, we preserved the legacy of the old vine, previously grafted to Pinot Noir, while delicately introducing Chardonnay buds beneath its bark. This intricate process, meticulously executed, fosters a seamless fusion, allowing the vine to thrive and bestow its fruit in the years to come.
The fruits of our labor yield approximately 2000 to 3000 bottles annually, a testament to our commitment to excellence. Clos de la Maréchale's white wine distinguishes itself amidst the esteemed whites of the Côte de Beaune with its profound minerality, harmonizing notes of pear with exotic fruits, evoking both power and finesse—a hallmark of longevity and distinction.
