Josmeyer Fromenteau Pinot Gris 2020
This dry Pinot Gris is an ode to the earth. It is defined by its firm and fleshy structure. Thus, depending on the vintage, the wine will be earthy on the nose, with scents of forest, hazelnuts, bakery or even sappy and saline notes, sometimes gamey, often smoky, grilled or even roasted with age in a powerful year. The palate, carried by its earthy character linked to the fruit, is long and persistent thanks to a supple but restrained acidity. The very present salinity accompanies the material which blossoms after a few minutes of aeration.
Fromenteau was imagined and created by Jean MEYER in 1992. This sweet name, reminiscent of the cereal, is the old name given to Pinot Gris, particularly in Champagne.
This wine pairs wonderfully with white meats, grains, legumes (lentil salad, chickpea hummus), and vegetarian dishes. It also pairs well with spicy Thai cuisine, with soy sauce-based marinades.
An exceptional Pinot Gris from Alsace (possibly our favourite region for this varietal!). Ripe pear and baked apple aromas trailed by some quince, ginger and spice notes.
The palate is rich and full with a creamy texture and luscious pear, Jonathan apple and honeysuckle notes. The finish is dry with brisk underlying acidity that keeps things moreish.
