Le Clos des 60 Ouvrées is a premier cru climat in Volnay and a monopole of the Domaine de la Pousse d'Or. It is technically a sub-division within the Caillerets climat and is planted entirely to Pinot Noir. The wines made here are complex but delicate, offering black cherry, minerality, and an elegant tannin structure.
The vineyard is at the top end of the Caillerets vineyard, on the steepest part of the slope. Clos des Chenes lies above, while Champans is on the northern edge. Clos des 60 Ouvrées is an example of Volnay's slightly more complex premier cru system, which, like Chablis, is much more fragmented than many other villages in the Côte de Beaune.
A dense deep purple. The nose has a succulence of perfectly ripe raspberry, which shows great promise, and it has the chiselled limestone purity that gives it exceptional breeding. Superb length and a haunting nobility of fruit that will only improve with age. Perfect balance. Tasted: October 2020
