The ancient limestone ridge, adorned with its fertile red soil, served as the inspiration for the inception of the Myrtle Point Vineyard. Motivated by the distinctive soil composition, a dedication to organic farming practices, and an inherent curiosity to expand upon conventional winemaking techniques, the foundation was laid. Nestled within their modest domain of the Gippsland Lakes district, Lightfoot wines eloquently mirror the vineyard's inception. The temperate coastal climate and the imaginative endeavors of the winemaking ensemble collectively find expression in the wines they produce.
Pinot noir commands center stage in Gippsland. This wine has a lot of depth & structure and a contrast of bright plum fruit character and earthy, Savoury tones. 2021 was quite possibly one of the best vintages we have had. Made exclusively from fruit grown at the Myrtle Point Vineyard in the coastal Gippsland Lakes District , Victoria. Located between the Great Dividing Range and Bass Straight, the Gippsland Lakes District enjoys a cool, semi-maritime climate.
"Our signature wine, there are some bright cherry & rhubarb flavors along with earthy tones. It then fills the mouth nicely through to the finish. Always a crowd pleaser." - Cellar Door Attendant
The pinot for shiraz drinkers. It's richly flavoured, spicy, meaty and very savoury with firm tannins supporting the full-bodied palate. Some fruit sweetness pops out midway and that's a good thing. Solid drinking.
